Pearlweed (Bryozoa)
Pearlweed are original colonial sessile animals belonging to the antenna type (Tentaculata). They inhabit seas, rarely freshwater bodies. Pearlweed colonies are usually treelike and branchy. Some specimens of the colony filter planktonic organisms with antennae located on the horseshoe-like process. Pearlweed colonize stones and other underwater objects. A creeping pearlweed (Plumatella repens) is common for Lake Baikal.
